Use the Physical Key

The actual key that is concealed within the fob itself may be used to open your Chevy Bolt if a key fob is not doing so automatically.

  1. Pull out the key by depressing the silver button located on the side of the fob.
  2. The driver-side door should have a tiny hole on the bottom where you may insert the key.
  3. Pull it apart to reveal the keyhole by removing the plastic cover.
  4. Unlock the car with your key.

Change the Battery In the Key Fob

Check to see if the battery is dead. If the battery is dead, the key fob will not work. Next, you should try resetting the key fob. To do this, you will need to remove the battery, open the cover on the key fob, and press and hold down all of the buttons for about 10 seconds. After resetting the key fob, you should test it to see if it works.

If it does not work after resetting it, then you may need to replace the key fob. If your Chevy Bolt doesn’t open with the key fob, the battery may need to be changed. Use a screwdriver to pry up the key fob casing after removing the key as previously mentioned. Once it’s unlocked, you can quickly swap out the coin battery in the key fob with a new one.
