One of your Chevy Trailblazer’s most important safety features is its brake lights. They signal to other motorists when you are slowing down and that they should do the same. You have a far higher chance of being rear-ended than usual if your brake lights aren’t functioning. The good news is that fixing broken brake lights is not particularly challenging. A broken brake light switch is the most frequent cause of this.

You may independently check the brake lights on your Trailblazer to see if they are functioning. Simply pull up to the garage door and press the gas. The door should be illuminated by the brake lights, which you can see. You can be certain that the brake light fuse is not blown if even one of them illuminates.

Why Chevy Trailblazer Brake Lights Are Not Working

Using the manual for your automobile, find the brake light fuse. Blowing fuses can result in brake light issues. Replace it with a new one if it is blown. Make sure the new unit’s amperage is the same as the old one by checking it. If not, the issue can keep happening.

If the brake lights and taillights don’t function, one of the other things you should check is the electrical ground. This may be a problem, particularly if the brake light switch is working. Check for faulty electrical grounding, which could be caused by wires that are rusted or damaged.

There is one more thing you may check to determine why the brake lights are not working, the wiring, if the light bulb, fuse box, and electrical ground are all functioning properly. Examine the wiring from the fuse panel to the brake light switch and the wiring from the switch to the bulb sockets. Either the connections are loose or the bulb housing is rusted. Make sure to replace them if you discover any issues with these parts.

How to Fix Chevy Trailblazer Brake Lights Not Working

Checking the fuse should be your first step if none of the brake lights are working. It will have a distinct label. Typically, it says “halt lamps” or something similar. To make sure it is not broken, you can pull it out and physically inspect it.

If you have another fuse with the same amperage, swap it even if it appears to be in good condition. To check whether the circuit is functional, it is preferable to use a simple electrical test light.

Try contacting the two metal tabs on top of the fuse after connecting the light’s clip to a reliable ground. No fuse needs to be pulled for this. Both sides should feel the “hot” side. In that case, swap out the fuse. If it blows more than once, the wire harness leading to the brake lights in your Trailblazer was probably harmed. Be careful to replace the fuse with the same size.

Make sure the brake light switch’s ground wire, if it has one, is securely fastened and corrosion-free. Run a jumper wire in place of the ground wire if you are completely unsuccessful in finding the ground wire. Test the brake light switch right now. Fix the ground wire if it functions.
