The Toyota Avalon is one of the best-designed cars on the road, not only because of its looks but also because it is very comfortable and has a good fuel economy. It provides a spacious interior and serves as a functional and suitable alternative for those who want a spacious family carrier, but the expansive cargo space of a large SUV or minivan is too much for them.

The sedan is known for its excellent reliability ratings and is always at the top of its class for vehicle rankings. According to iSeeCars, the Avalon ranked as the longest-lasting large sedan in its segment after more than 15.8 million vehicles sold in 2019, were analyzed to find out the highest percentage of the ones that were able to do 200,000-miles or more.

The results showed 2.6% of Toyota Avalon models sold in 2019 have crossed 200,000-miles. Also, the Toyota Avalon was the only sedan that could make the list of ‘Longest-Lasting Vehicles to Reach 200k Miles’.

Owners have reported their Avalon models running for more than ten years easily, with mileages always being more than 150k. Some owners have even managed to get their Avalons running for more than 1 million miles.

Factors Affecting Long Mileages

Apart from the engine break-in, there are many variables such as maintenance practices, driving habits, environmental conditions, and more, which are factored in mileage. However, Toyota products, in general, have an above-average reliability rating. But to get long miles, it is not enough that the Avalon is reliable, safe, and well-built.

To get the Avalon to run long and healthy, owners need to be keeping up on regularly scheduled maintenance. Oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checking and changing and more, should be regularly considered as they are the easiest way to ensure an Avalon reaches the 200,000-mile mark. So, a well-serviced Japanese/JDM car can run smoothly for 15 years and more. But one can only make this estimation by assuming that the car has not gone through any severe accidents.

Toyota Avalon Reliability Ratings

Apart from some Avalon model years, most of them earned a five out of five-reliability rating from Consumer Reports. The ones that didn’t still manage to get about 3.5 out of 5. RepairPal has cited a four out of five rating in reliability, which ranks the Toyota Avalon eighth out of 32 cars in the list.

Toyota Avalon Maintenance Costs

One reason for the long mileages is that the Toyota Avalon isn’t very expensive to maintain. Repairpal states that the average total cost (annually) for repairs and maintenance on a Toyota Avalon is approximately $463, which is lower than an average of $590 for full-size cars and $652 for all vehicle models.
