Here are some possible issues and solutions you should consider:

A leak on the refrigerant

One possible cause of an air conditioner not working is a leak on the refrigerant. In this case, you should have a look at the hose that connects the compressor to the evaporator. There may be a leak in this part of your car, which is causing the air conditioner not to work.

If you don’t have your ioniq regularly serviced, your refrigerant level will eventually become so low that the cooling capacity is gradually reduced. Just have your tank refilled and then you can drive again with pleasant temperatures. When the refrigerant level again rapidly falls within a short period of time, it means that there is probably a leak.

A broken AC compressor

Another reason why your air conditioner may not be working is a broken compressor. If you have an AC unit that is manufactured by Hyundai, then it should be relatively easy to find a replacement.

The damage caused by a broken compressor is usually irreparable. If the air conditioning is switched on regularly, the parts of the unit will usually remain working well. However, when you are not in the habit of turning on the air conditioning on your Ioniq for a long time, the parts on the cylinders will stick. As a result, the compressor may get faulty beyond repair. The only thing that helps is to swap out the old one for a new one.

Clogging on the condenser

The condenser is located under the hood of your car. It is a heat exchanger that cools the air coming from the compressor. The condenser can clog with dust, dirt, and other impurities. In this case, you should try to clean it thoroughly with a brush.

Defective evaporator

If this part is defective, then you will not be able to enjoy cool air in your vehicle during hot days or humid weather.  In this case, you should have a look at the evaporator itself and check whether there are any signs of damage or cracks on it.

Visit a workshop

One last solution to your problem of an air conditioner not working is to have it repaired by a professional. This is probably the best solution if you’re a newbie in the realm of fixing cars and don’t want to risk damaging the unit in any way.
