Chevrolet Vega (1971–77)
The Chevrolet Vega was a compact car that was released in 1970. It had an aluminum engine, and the body panels were made from fiberglass. The design of this car is now considered one of the most radical designs on American roads at the time. The Vega ended up being a commercial failure for General Motors because it did not meet expectations, and only lasted four years before production stopped in 1977. Although it never became one of America’s favorite cars, today people are still interested in owning a Chevrolet Vega because these cars were ahead of their time when they first hit the roadways back in 1970.
